Movement is created by the nervous system, not the muscle

Ekaterina Gashenko · osteopath, P-DTR, kinesiologist

Movement is created not by a muscle but by the central nervous system — the muscle only follows the command. The quality of movement depends on what information the brain receives from the receptors and how it interprets it.

With distorted afference — after injuries, surgery or chronic stress — the nervous system builds compensations. Movement is preserved on the outside, but becomes energy-inefficient, unstable and eventually leads to pain.

The key point: strengthening a muscle that is not part of the correct motor chain reinforces the compensation rather than solving the problem. That is why simply working out a weak spot often gives no lasting result.

This is exactly what the P-DTR method is built on: until the nervous system works correctly and the distorted input signal is removed, there will be no stable change in movement. I work with the root cause, not the symptom.
